Yes to Life International Conference

The ICYCW is participated in the International Conference on the theme “Yes to Life!” Caring for the precious gift of life in its frailness which was held in the Vatican from 23-25 of May 2019, which was organized by the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life.

Some of the topics of discussion were on Re-Humanize Diagnosis: from Selective Culture to the Culture life, Fetal Therapies and Perinatal Hospice: the science that opens to life, the family network of “II Cuore in una Goccia” non-profit Foundation: a new model of solidarity and care and an encounter with experience (testimonies). In general, the conference was very interesting and addressed the value and importance of a short life

As the International Labour Organisation was celebrating 100 years, ICYCW was privileged to participate in the conference. ICYCW was joined with 2 delegates from YCW Catalonia and England and wales as an observer.

In addition to this, the common statement of the Catholic-Inspired organizations on Violence and harassment in the world of work was read on 10th June 2019 in the workers` group meetings

International Coordination of Young Christian Workers delegation for the 108th International Labour Conference 2019. ICYCW Statement was presented in the plenary on Thursday 13th June 2019 by Eamonn Anthony Peter O`Brien from YCW England and Wales on behalf of ICYCW.

As a follow up of the 9th ICYCW International Council resolution

A Dialogue Meeting between ICYCW and IYCW was held in Rome from 21st -22nd of May 2019. The main objectives of the dialogue are: 
-Ensure and maintain good relations with each other.
-Reflect our continue collaborations in an international forum in order to see if/how to continue or strengthen it.
-Clarify the current understanding of the Vision and Mission, including the actual work of both Movements
-Clarification about of the internal agreement to continue respecting each other’s areas and 
-Exchange and identify the challenges both movements face.
The dialogue was a success, were by an internal agreement was signed by both ICYCW and IYCW. This was the first step of ensuring a continous dialogue between the two (ICYCW and IYCW)

Mission work in Cote d`Ivoire

The International President of ICYCW (Mr. Berhanu SINAMO) visited Cote d`Ivoire the coordinating movement of West Africa from 1st April to 8th April 2019, with the main objective of the visit was

  • To follow-up the preparations of the regional training and exchange of West Africa which is scheduled for 12th – 19th October 2019.
  • Follow up of the IC 2016-Regional future plan, Visit some local YCW Groups and reinforce regional dimension and solidarity.

ICYCW East African Regional Training and Exchange

Training and Exchange

The East Africa Regional Training and exchange was held on the theme “Building the Future of Young People through Innovation and Entrepreneurship” in Lilongwe, Malawi from 25th August-1st of September 2018.Young leaders from Young Christian Workers (YCW) movements in East Africa region were engaged in seven days of meetings, sharing, learning, reflection, exchange, and deepening their understanding on the realities lived by the young people from Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Uganda, Zambia and Malawi.

The Second International Preparatory Meeting for World Youth Day (WYD) 2019

The Second International Preparatory Meeting for World Youth Day (WYD) 2019 was held in Panama from 7th-9th June 2018. ICYCW has fully participated in this meeting. The meeting was focused on the following agendas:

  • The introduction to the second international preparatory Meeting
  • The Pastoral Preparation of young people for WYD 2019,
  • The Spiritual Pilgrimage in Panama,
  • Presentation and Analysis of the Pastoral Program of WYD 2019
  • Registration of Pilgrims and Volunteers
  • Logistical Aspects of WYD 2019
  • Security and Emergency Plans for Pilgrims and executive Directorate of Support to the Local Organizing Committee of WYD 2019
  • Communication, Translation and Press Room and Communications Team of the Local Organizing Committee of WYD 2019
  • Presentation of the Venues of the Main Events with the Holy Father and events Team of the Local Organizing Committee of WYD 2019.

Panama City already sense the world youth day event and we would like to thank you the organizing committee and Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life invited us to be part of the preparatory meeting.

ICYCW is continuing making the difference in the representation work in the church and international institutions. Therefore, the International Secretariat of the ICYCW would like to invite all of you to be part of this historical world youth day gathering in Panama January 2019. We wish all the best for the successful journey for WYD 2019.
